Sian is a Senior Policy Officer in the Advanced Therapeutics team in the Office for Health and Medical Research, NSW Health. She has a Bachelor of Science (Genetics and Molecular Biology) and a Bachelor of Laws. She is also an intellectual property lawyer with commercial and commercialisation experience in both private practice and within government.  

Sian is currently responsible for co-ordinating the development of a regulatory approach and framework for bacteriophage therapy in Australia by facilitating engagement between Phage Australia, NSW Health, the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator and the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). A Bacteriophage Therapy Regulation Working Group has been established and its first meeting is scheduled for early April. This engagement with regulators will instigate regulatory reform, ensuring that bacteriophage therapy can be provided as a clinical service in Australia.
